As he announced the accolade for the veteran, Prime Minister Modi praised LK Advani for his “monumental” contribution to India’s progress.

Located in New Delhi: The Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, has been bestowed to Lal Krishna Advani, a BJP veteran who, in the early 1990s, propelled the party into national significance with his Rath Yatra for Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.
The news that Shri LK Advani Ji would get the Bharat Ratna is something I am pleased to share with you. Prime Minister Narendra Modi used X to announce that he had spoken with the recipient and congratulated him on the distinction.
As he announced the accolade for the veteran, Prime Minister Modi praised LK Advani for his “monumental” contribution to India’s progress. He praised him as one of India’s most revered politicians.

“He was one of the most esteemed politicians of his day, and his impact on India’s progress was immense. From his humble beginnings as an organiser to his current position as deputy prime minister, his life has been an incredible journey. In his roles as minister of home affairs and international and border affairs, he excelled. According to him, his comments in parliament have always been outstanding and packed with insightful commentary.

“Throughout his extensive career in public service, Advani Ji has always shown a remarkable dedication to honesty and openness, serving as a role model for others in terms of political ethics. When it comes to promoting national unity and cultural revival, he has gone above and beyond. I am very moved by the occasion of bestowing the Bharat Ratna upon him. Having so many chances to talk to him and pick his brain is something I will always be grateful for, he said.

who is Lal Krishna Advani |L K Advani?

While LK Advani was born in Karachi, he moved to India during the Partition. Bombay became his permanent home. In 1941, when he was fourteen years old, he became a member of the RSS.
He joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, the group that BJP legend Syama Prasad Mookerjee had created. In politics, the BJP has its political antecedents in the Jana Sangh.

For the first time in 1970, Advani became a member of the Rajya Sabha. Up to 1989, he served four times as RS.
After the Janata Party won the 1977 general election, he took office as minister of information and broadcasting and also became the leader of the Rajya Sabha.

He helps establish the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He presided over the party on three separate occasions.
His first term as a Lok Sabha member was in 1989.
Advani was the minister of home affairs and deputy prime minister in the 1999 administration created by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India, was bestowed to Lal Krishna Advani in 2015.

In 1990, in response to the BJP’s demand for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Lal Krishna Advani set out on the Ram Rath Yatra. Starting in Gujarat’s Somnath, the procession made its way to Ayodhya. Many people were in favour of his Rath Yatra. The BJP rose from relative obscurity to become the second-largest party in parliament in 1991, behind only the Congress.

The political response to Lal Krishna Advani Bharat Ratna

But Congress chief Sandeep Dikshit said the BJP treated him badly.
